CAREER CORE STRENGTHS
Is it time to take a more proactive role in your professional development? Or, time to make a change altogether?
You want to be valued in your career. To feel fulfilled. To know that you are really using your strengths. How many of the following apply to you:
- You are ready for a change in the way you approach your job.
- Or, you are ready to pursue a new path completely. Only you aren’t quite sure how to move on. Or if you should even leave your current position.
- You’re happy most of the time, but wonder if there is something more.
- Maybe you aren’t happy most of the time.
- No matter what, you are ready to explore what it takes to feel that you are making a contribution.
- You are ready to be acknowledged for your work.
- You are ready for your career to reflect who you are.
Life is way too short to stay in a career that doesn’t excite you. Sure, we all have bad days and periods of time when we are less than thrilled with going to work. But, overall, your job should be something that adds to your life. Not something that makes your blood boil and frustrates you.
This commitment will give you a clear view of the core elements that factor into success and fulfillment in your professional life. Each week will have a foundational focus point, but will ignite conversation to dive deeper into what your vision is for success, what makes you feel most useful and what themes can uncover the key areas that interest you most.

Each session is personalized to you. Coaching can be done via phone, skype or in person if you are in the Charlotte, NC area.
Be honest with me. On a scale of 1-10, how frustrated are you in your career?
Does your blood boil every time something goes wrong at work? Or, every time someone asks you for something that they could do themselves?
Are you scared to start over and leave all that you’ve worked for so far just to pursue something you’re more passionate about? Especially because you aren’t even really sure what you are more passionate about?
Here’s the thing…
- You know it’s time for a change, but you have no idea where to start or what steps to take.
- You want to feel valued in your career.
- You want to feel fulfilled by the work that you do.
- You want to know that you are really using your strengths.
- You want to advance in your career feeling qualified, capable and prepared.
- You want to get up in the morning excited for work.
- You want your family and friends to see a happier, less frustrated, you each day.
- You want to do good work and see the difference you’re making.
- For you, it’s not enough to just make good money. You want to feel connected to how you earn that money, too.
Am I right? If I am, then I want you to know…
All of this is totally natural. And it doesn’t mean that you picked the wrong path. Or that you made the wrong choices along the way. It just means you’ve changed. And something deep within you is ready to get real. To get down to the core of who you are and what you truly want. Most of us don’t conquer that early in life.
What I know is that you will find far more fulfillment during your 40+ hours each week if you are aware of and maximizing your skills and strengths. I’m not talking about whether you’re and extrovert or an introvert. And I’m not talking about where you are on the DISC or the Meyers Briggs. I mean who you know yourself to be. And what you know you want to be seen for (at least so far).
My mission is to help you reconnect to your natural self.
I have seen this simple awareness amplify my clients’ satisfaction in their work over my 10+ years in business. We push so hard to get ahead and support ourselves and then get ahead to support our families, we stop making choices that work for all aspects of our lives and instead make choices that are presented to us as the next step. Not always the next best step.
Fact: you can’t move forward into that sparkly new career without really knowing what you want and knowing more about the skills you want to use. So, naturally, we’ll start there.
During this course, we do a deep dive into how you feel most valued through the work you do.
Ready to claim a fulfilling career? I’ll guide you through the 6 core steps to discovering what truly makes you happy within your life and your career! Here are the 6 steps:
Step 1: Define Your Ideal Life & Career
As I said, you can’t move forward to accomplish what you really want without clearly defining what would make you happy. During our time together, we will lay the foundation for what your ideal life and career look like. This doesn’t just mean being captain of a ship off the coast of Kauai and sailing away into the sunset, escaping all reality (though that would be nice).
This step is a higher level and includes an in depth interview into what type of schedule you want to keep, what truly lights you up in life, what type of people you want to work with and even what type of work most inspires you.
You will finish this work feeling clear about what is negotiable for you and what is not in a variety of areas of your life and career.
Step 2: Connecting the Dots Between Your Interests
Every job that peaks your interest tells us something. We will go back through the jobs, volunteer organizations, etc that have interested you in the past. We will analyze them to get a firm understanding of why you were drawn to them, what you remember about them and why you enjoyed them. This will give us vital information about what fulfills you, intrigues you and motivates you.
You will finish this work feeling more connected to your interests (even those that you have long since forgotten about). You will have a better understanding of why you were attracted to certain jobs and hobbies. You will begin to see a clearer picture of where you want to go (and this is only step 2!).
Step 3: Align With Your Top Strengths
Anyone who has worked with me can attest that this step is a huge turning point in the program. If you hate your job now, this exercise will start to give you some peace of mind. You will learn your deepest, most innate character strengths. Things you do naturally at work and outside of work to add value. Naturally, you will begin to lean into your true strengths and shift to feeling a sense of accomplishment immediately.
At the same time, we will be starting to craft what your next career could look like as you amplify the strengths you have. We will focus on what gives you the most successful feeling in your contributions and highlight the strengths that you most likely don’t give yourself credit for. We will also talk about what happens when a strength is amplified too much or not enough. It might surprise you.
You will move forward with a better sense of what you have to offer and a much clearer sense of how to stand out and be seen.
Step 4: Writing Your Story
When you are planning to get back out there and apply for different jobs, it is crucial to know your story. Not just the professional boxes that you have ticked throughout the years, but really looking back to remember your big wins and some of your biggest fumbles.
We will focus on teasing out those stories to help you remember what a huge asset you really are. We will talk about action steps to start looking and who to align yourself with. And, we will work towards getting you ready for the interview process.
You will move forward with concrete talking points that feel natural, an outline of your professional (and somewhat personal) story, clear questions to ask during your interviews and a list of action steps to start becoming a magnet for a career that you love.
Step 5: Start Seeking
You don’t have to do it all alone. I guarantee your success network is far bigger than you think it is. We will work together to identify people in your circles that you need to be talking to, how to form lasting connections and how to search for jobs effectively. We will also discuss how to expand your support network to form more effective contacts. And, tap into your existing network to get some outside feedback.
You will move forward with a plan of action to continue your outreach and gain quick traction.
Step 6: Next Steps
As we wrap up our time together, remember that the best laid plans don’t result in much if you aren’t taking action. By now you know if you will be looking for a new career. You will even know what career(s) will be most fulfilling. You will even have committed to taking specific steps to increase your satisfaction, aid your professional development and, if you wish, advance to a higher position.
You will walk away with a solid plan for the steps needed to get where you would like to go after our coaching arrangement has ended.
You deserve a career that makes you happy.
Sound good to you? Let’s get started.
Now I’m Blushing ….
It was a pleasure working with Katie as I explored the next phase of my career. She was incredibly intuitive and although she had a planned curriculum, our sessions had a conversational flow about them. I feel empowered to confidently pursue the career I’ve always envisioned for myself and I owe a debt of gratitude to Katie for assisting me in my journey.
– Avery M.
I found Katie a few years ago at a time in my life when I felt stuck in a career that drained me and I felt powerless to change my situation. After our first session, I left feeling empowered and motivated and I knew I had found just what I needed. Katie helped me to get to know myself better and to be honest about what I really wanted out of life. Since working with her, I bought my first home, received my Master’s degree, and found the courage to leave the career that was draining me for one that I am completely passionate about!! I am incredibly grateful to Katie and would recommend her services to anyone who is serious about making a change.
– Megan H.
After being laid off, Katie led me on an inner journey that helped me transform my life and find my dream job. I’m living the life I have wanted to live and Katie was the driving force motivating and inspiring me. I highly recommend Katie if you are ready for the best life possible!
– Raven D.
Coaching sessions with Katie have been very valuable. I now have the confidence to continue toward my career goals. Katie is a very good listener and she quickly tuned into what I was really in need of. Katie has been a tremendous help.
– Reggie T.
Katie was the competent coach I needed to help me focus my business aspirations and find the mental tools to implement my personal and professional vision. Worth every penny.
– Jason T.
Just one statement sums up my experience: so many things seem possible now!
– Brian R.
Katie is the heart of this program. She is a wise soul with insight and experience that is so valuable. One of her greatest strengths is listening and identifying themes. I’ve spent a lifetime being me and a lifetime overlooking themes that in 6 weeks Katie observed and made thoughtful, constructive comments about or asked thought provoking questions of.
– Amanda W.
I sat with this note on my desk for over 2 years: “Eat that Frog*”! That pretty much sums up my experiences. Over the course of 3 years through a difficult job transition, Katie helped me to align my life goals to career. Her style encourages a take action approach with accountability steps, specially formulated for her clients. This was not simply a career plan, but a solid set of practical coaching techniques.
With Katie’s guidance I was able to clarify goals, define strengths and shine a light on potential obstacles. The end result is a clear direction with a mission statement that I believe in. The rest is up to me. Thank you Katie!
